5th Hyogo Science E-cafe "Mathematics Seen from Anecdotes"
Professor Sakae Fuchino of Kobe University will discuss some of the characteristic features of mathematics on the basis of anecdotes (逸話) from the history of mathematics (数学) and mathematicians (数学者). In particular, he will discuss about the exactness (厳密さ) of mathematics, its autonomy (自律性), abstraction (抽象化), its wide applicability (適用可能性), but also its limitations (限界).
