9th Hyogo Science E-cafe "Student Presentations"
For the 9th Science E-Cafe we are going to do something very special!
We will have students from Kobe High School present research that they have done, to practice their presenting skills!
There will be three research presentations. Here are the topics and abstracts:
*Topic:* Relationship between Lipid Production and Light Conditions of Microalgae Chlorella
*Abstract: *Chlorella, a kind of microalgae, has a good photosynthetic capacity and produce lipid inside their cells, and in these days, the lipid is used in many industrial ways and is in a great demand. We researched the relationship between lipid production and light conditions of Chlorella and found that switching of light improves their lipid production efficiency. we also experimented some ways to measure the amount of lipid inside the cells of Chlorella, and found the best way.
*Topic: *The Memory of Planarians
*Abstract:* A Planarian is a kind of flatworm living in ponds or rivers.
We conducted series of experiments to confirm if a planarian’s memory can survive through regeneration of a new head. Results do not yet support the hypothesis completely, but prove that both initial learning and regeneration have an influence on the repeated learning.
*Topic: *The Antibacterial Properties of Aloe
*Abstract:* Aloes are familiar plants and Aloes may have antibacterial properties. We researched whether Aloes have it or not and which parts have it. We tested its antibacterial properties with 3 kinds of bacteria.
